Gut Boltenhof is one of the few preserved and self-contained estates in Brandenburg. Today, 80 hectares of organic agricultural land and 3.5 hectares around the actual estate with various stables, servants' quarters, manor house, park and zoo still belong to the estate. The old, dilapidated chicken house was dismantled down to its foundation walls and then reconstructed. The genius loci was preserved by reusing the historic bricks and retaining the former cubature of the house.
The roof made of fibre cement panels, common in agricultural buildings, covers the house like a protective skin without eaves and extends the house with a roofed outdoor enclosure. The chicken house was built according to the strict criteria of the German Animal Welfare Association and received the "Animal Welfare Label Premium Level".
